33-Year-Old Killed In Trumbull Crash Remembered For Passion For Family, Dog

A Fairfield County man killed in a two-car crash when the Lexus he was a passenger in hit another vehicle is being remembered as a hard worker who had a passion for his family and his dog, Charlie.

Anthony James Moran, age 33, of Bridgeport, died on Sunday, Oct. 15, in a crash in Trumbull

Moran was the passenger in a red Lexus SC 430 convertible that was being driven by a 22-year-old Trumbull man, which struck a maroon Chrysler 300 S, according to authorities. Both men were ejected from the car. 

A Bridgeport native, Moran is the son of John Moran and the late Michele Kusy Moran of Bridgeport. 

Moran loved his family from the North End Little League and attained a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, his obituary said.

He graduated from Assumption School and Notre Dame High School in Fairfield.

Known as a hard worker, Moran began working at age 14 with his mother at the Smithy Restaurant in Monroe. He worked his way up to manager and helped the restaurant to stay open during the pandemic, the obituary said.

He was a part-time IT worker for the Stratford Board of Education for several years before being hired full-time in 2022. He was also currently employed by Fortuna Catering of Stratford.

Fortuna said on Facebook that Moran was "loved and admired by all."

"We are heartbroken to share that one of our employees, Anthony Moran, lost his life far too soon this past Sunday. Anthony has been in many of our lives as far back as Kindergarten and we can’t begin to comprehend how deep of a loss this is to his family and friends, the company said on Facebook. 

"We loved having him as part of our team: kind, hard-working, and loved by all. Your family and friends are in our thoughts and we are here for anyone who needs an ear for support," they added.  

Moran's passion was his family and his dog Charlie and playing Pokémon Go with his many friends, his obituary said.

He is survived by his father, John, and brother, Ryan and Ryan’s fiancée Nora Mackey, and his aunts, uncles, and cousins; James Kevin Moran and Mary and Harry Lovett, Lorraine and John Kalman, Tyler and Kylee Kalman, Corey, Hayley and James Kalman, Billy, Linda and Kayla Kusy and Marie Maher, and Damon, Heather and Desmond Gallick.

Friends may call on Thursday, Oct. 19 at Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main St., in Stratford from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 20 at Assumption Church in Fairfield at 10 a.m. 

Burial will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield.
